These terms govern the use of DBine, the desktop application for managing databases, and of the website dbine.com, both owned by AddLayer. By downloading or using DBine you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
1. License
DBine is open-source software, released under the MIT License on GitHub. You may use, copy, modify and distribute it under that license, which prevails over these terms with respect to the code. It is free of charge.
2. Use at your own risk
DBine is a tool: it connects to the databases you configure and runs what you tell it to. You are responsible for:
- having authorization to access the databases and servers you connect to;
- reviewing queries, schema change scripts, syncs and imports before running them, especially in production;
- keeping your own backups of your databases;
- the use of features that turn on temporary logging on the server (such as the Profiler), which DBine discloses and turns off when finished.
Connections marked as read-only block the write operations that DBine can detect, but they do not replace the database's own permissions: to protect production, also use a user with read-only permissions.
3. Artificial intelligence assistant
The assistant's responses may contain errors. The assistant never runs anything on its own: review the code it suggests before running it. If you use an external provider (Claude Code or Codex), its use is governed by that provider's terms.
4. Encrypted backup
The cloud backup is encrypted with a passphrase only you know. AddLayer does not store it: if you lose it, the backup cannot be recovered. The backup is stored in your own Google Drive or OneDrive account, or in a folder you choose, subject to that service's terms.
5. Third-party services
DBine integrates with third-party services that you use with your own accounts: Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, GitHub and other git repositories, artificial intelligence providers, and each vendor's database engines and services. Their availability and use depend on those third parties and their terms.
6. No warranties
DBine is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, AddLayer is not liable for direct or indirect damages, data loss, lost profits or service interruptions resulting from the use of DBine, including operations run against your databases. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have as a consumer under the law.
8. Voluntary contributions
You can support the project with voluntary contributions through GitHub Sponsors. They are donations: they do not purchase a license, support, features or any other right, and they are governed by GitHub's terms.
9. Trademarks
DBine and AddLayer are trademarks of AddLayer. The names and logos of database engines belong to their respective owners and are used only to indicate compatibility.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with its date; continuing to use DBine after a change means you accept it.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic. Any dispute shall be submitted to the ordinary courts of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires), without prejudice to the rights that the law grants to consumers.
